Biobanking

Biobanking of Blood-Derived Samples

Preserving sample integrity over time is essential for longitudinal studies, retrospective analyses, and future biomarker discovery. SmartBioSurface® slides provide a reliable platform for the in situ biobanking of blood-derived samples, combining long-term storage with analytical performance.

Thanks to their nanostructured TiO₂ coating, SmartBioSurface® slides promote the adhesion of non-adherent and rare cell populations while preserving cellular morphology during storage at -80°C. Studies on metastatic breast cancer patient samples demonstrated maintained morphology, stable immunofluorescence signal, and preserved epitope integrity after up to 45 months of storage, enabling reliable downstream analysis.

Compatible with Immunofluorescence (IF), Brightfield (BF), and FISH workflows, SmartBioSurface® slides support the long-term preservation and subsequent characterization of PBMCs, suspension cells, and rare circulating cells, including CTCs. By maintaining both sample quality and analytical reliability, they help maximize the value of precious biological specimens stored for future research and clinical applications.
